Four officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were confirmed dead following an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Kaduna State. The attack took place on November 18 while the officers were inspecting the national grid installation in Shiroro, Niger State. The NSCDC reported that out of the seven officers originally declared missing, four bodies have been recovered, while two others returned injured, and one officer is still missing.
NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the tragic details, stating that the Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, has expressed condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers. Audi praised the officers’ bravery and commitment, despite the brutal nature of the ambush. He also assured the families of the Corps' commitment to covering medical expenses and other welfare needs.
Audi condemned the terrorist attack, calling it a vicious act of violence, and urged the public to support security agencies in maintaining peace and safety across the country. The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in Nigeria as Boko Haram continues to target security forces and civilians. The Corps continues to investigate the incident and search for the remaining missing officer.
