Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has accused teen actress Angel Unigwe and her mother of breaching a filming contract. He urges producers to boycott Unigwe due to her mother's interference, threatening to disrupt any set involving the actress. Kanayo emphasizes the need for professionalism.
Veteran Nollywood actor and producer, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has publicly criticized teen actress Angel Unigwe and her mother for allegedly breaching a filming contract. Kanayo claims that Unigwe’s mother removed her daughter from the set before the contract duration expired, disrupting the production process.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, Kanayo detailed his grievances, alleging that Unigwe's mother habitually demands money from producers and then withdraws her daughter prematurely. He recounted an incident where Unigwe's mother took her home at 9 PM, despite the agreement that the filming day would end at midnight.
Kanayo expressed frustration over repeated reports of similar behavior from Unigwe’s mother affecting other producers. He emphasized that such actions undermine professionalism in the industry.
“This is a clarion call for every producer,” Kanayo said. “From this moment, the 21st day of June 2024, any set that employs the services of Angel Unigwe, I will come to that set and make sure filming does not hold.”
Kanayo warned of potential disruptions on any set involving Unigwe, stressing that her mother’s actions jeopardize production schedules. He highlighted that the working relationship with Angel Unigwe herself was good but was repeatedly marred by her mother's interference.
Kanayo’s call to boycott Unigwe is a significant move within the Nollywood community, urging other producers to avoid engaging the young actress until the issue is resolved.
