Governor Yusuf's meeting with NSA Ribadu in Abuja sparks speculation about resolving the Kano throne crisis, amid tensions over the dethronement and reinstatement of emirs.

Amid the ongoing tussle over the revered Kano throne, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State made a significant visit to Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, in Abuja on Thursday. The meeting, which took place at Ribadu's office, has garnered significant attention, with speculations swirling about the potential implications for the state's political landscape.

While the details of their discussion were not made public, Governor Yusuf described it as a "fruitful engagement" with the NSA. However, the meeting comes at a time when the battle for the Kano throne has intensified, with Governor Yusuf taking the controversial step of dethroning Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and reinstating Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.

Angered by Yusuf's actions, the governor ordered the police to arrest Ado Bayero for "creating tension" in the state. However, Ado Bayero, who has set up his court at the mini Palace in Nassarawa, received military protection, fueling speculations that he had the backing of the Federal Government.

Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the deputy governor of Kano, had previously accused Ribadu of supporting Ado Bayero's return to Kano after his dethronement. Ribadu vehemently denied the allegation and threatened legal action against Gwarzo, demanding an apology. Gwarzo has since tendered an unreserved apology, stating that he was misled.

The meeting between Governor Yusuf and Ribadu has sparked further speculation about the potential resolution of the Kano throne crisis. Political analysts are keenly observing the developments, as the outcome could have far-reaching implications for the state's political landscape and traditional institutions.
