The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has reiterated the government's resolve to relocate the headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos.
In an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, Keyamo affirmed the directive, dismissing opposition from various quarters, including Senator Ali Ndume and northern groups. Keyamo emphasized the move's necessity, citing economic and operational efficiencies, which would save the government and citizens millions in air travel costs annually. Addressing speculation regarding President Bola Tinubu's involvement, Keyamo clarified that the decision falls within his ministerial purview.
He elucidated that only one of the seven aviation agencies' headquarters would shift locations and underscored the logistical challenges faced by FAAN officials commuting between Lagos and Abuja.
The minister's remarks shed light on the rationale behind the relocation, highlighting the imperative for modernization and cost-saving measures within Nigeria's aviation sector.
