In the Kogi governorship election, held on November 11, 2023, Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, faced defeat in his home Ijumu Local Government Area, losing to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye secured 6,909 votes, while Usman Ododo of the APC garnered 10,524 votes.
The collation of results from the state's 21 local government areas, including Adavi, Ajaokuta, Lokoja, and others, is ongoing as of the latest update.
Notable contenders in the Kogi poll include Murtala Ajaka (SDP), Leke Abejide (ADC), and incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello's ex-Auditor General, Usman Ododo (APC).
The election faced challenges as Melaye raised concerns about "filled result sheets" in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area, leading to the suspension of voting in nine wards.
Meanwhile, in the concurrent governorship elections in Bayelsa and Imo States, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the APC secured victory, polling 540,308 votes against his closest rivals.
