Lamine Yamal has made history by winning the 2024 Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best football player under 21. The 17-year-old Barcelona and Spain winger has made an impressive impact since his debut at the start of the 2023/24 season. During the previous season, he scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 50 matches for Barcelona. His standout performance in Spain's Euro 2024 victory included one goal and four assists, making him the youngest player to achieve both a goal and an assist in the tournament's history.

This season, Yamal has continued to shine, contributing six goals and seven assists in just 14 appearances. His exceptional form led him to finish ahead of other talented nominees like Kobbie Mainoo, Arda Güler, Savinho, and Pau Cubarsi, marking him as the youngest player to win the Kopa Trophy since its inception six years ago. Yamal joins fellow Barcelona and Spain stars Pedri and Gavi, who won the award in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The Kopa Trophy has previously recognized prominent players such as Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham. Yamal's achievement signifies a promising future for both him and the Spanish national team, cementing his status as a rising star in global football.
