In a recent development following the Supreme Court's ruling on the Kano State governorship election, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), refutes allegations of reaching an agreement with President Bola Tinubu concerning the outcome.
The Supreme Court affirmed Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP as the duly elected governor of Kano, prompting responses from Kwankwaso. Speaking to BBC Hausa, he emphasized his commitment to the democratic process, denying any pre-verdict agreements. Kwankwaso highlighted his historical ties with Tinubu, co-founding the APC together, and clarified that no agreement was made despite being contemporaries.
Addressing the governance landscape, he expressed a willingness to collaborate where necessary but asserted that only time would reveal the extent of their cooperation.
Kwankwaso also emphasized the importance of allowing the newly elected governor, Kabir Yusuf, the space to prove his worth, signaling a nuanced approach to advising rather than controlling.
