Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), claims Nigerians are tired of the APC-led government. Speaking at a defection event in Kano, he predicted that the people will push for change in 2027, citing worsening insecurity and poverty under the current administration.
Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will push for a change in leadership by 2027 due to widespread dissatisfaction with the current government.
While welcoming a large group of All Progressives Congress (APC) members who defected to the NNPP in Kano, Kwankwaso noted that the people, particularly in the north, have endured significant hardship. He received defectors from Dala, Kiru, and Gwale local government areas at his residence on Miller Road.
Kwankwaso stated, “Nigerians, especially those from the northern region, have suffered enough, and no amount of intimidation or pressure will change their minds about the need for change.”
He further explained that the APC government, which was originally meant to improve the lives of poor Nigerians, has instead exacerbated problems such as insecurity and poverty. According to Kwankwaso, the citizens are exhausted and ready for a shift in leadership, despite efforts by the current administration to manipulate future elections through security agencies or the electoral commission.
The senator described the defection as a significant event, indicating that the APC’s support in Dala, Kiru, Gwale, and Dawakintofa has weakened considerably. He reiterated that Nigerians have grown weary of the government’s failures and are determined to seek change in the next election.
