Passengers faced chaos and disruption at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) followed through on their threat to halt all flights to Owerri, Imo state. This action stems from last week's assault on NLC President Joe Ajaero in Imo, leading to a nationwide strike. The unions accuse Governor Hope Uzodinma and the state police of orchestrating the attack, claims both parties deny.
The aviation unions, including the National Union of Air Transport Employees and the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, directed their workers to suspend services to all Owerri flights across the country.
