A two-storey building in Lagos partially collapsed during heavy downpour, causing panic among residents. Multiple agencies swiftly responded to control the situation without any reported casualties, as the cause remains under investigation.
A two-story building located at Number 70 Adetola Road in Aguda, Coker Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, partially collapsed during heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning, causing panic among residents in the area. The incident, which occurred around 10 am, prompted a swift response from multiple agencies to control the situation and prevent further risk.

According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, a distress call was received at approximately 10:29 am, reporting the partial collapse of the building. With prompt coordination, a rescue team from the agency, along with personnel from the Lagos State Safety Commission, LASEMA, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, and health officials from Coker Aguda LCDA, arrived at the scene by 10:57 am.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, stated that despite the severity of the collapse, no casualties have been reported. However, the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Adeseye praised the swift and efficient response of all involved agencies, which ensured that the situation was controlled without any loss of life or injury. The affected building has been secured, and measures are being implemented to prevent further risk to the public.

As the investigation into the cause of the partial collapse continues, the incident has raised concerns about building safety and the potential impact of heavy rainfall on aging structures in the city.
