Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, arrived at the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal amid heightened security at the Rosaline Omotoso Court house in Ikeja. The tribunal is preparing to announce its judgment in the petition filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, and Azeez Olajide, known as Jandor, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), contesting the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Amid tight security measures, Hamzat reached the tribunal around 9:20 a.m., accompanied by some aides. He was seated behind the space designated for lawyers in the court.

Security was significantly intensified around the courthouse, with a substantial police presence in combat gear as early as 7:00 a.m. A bomb disposal vehicle and additional police contingents were stationed around the area where the judgment would be delivered. Security personnel from the Ikeja High Court screened all individuals entering, and political supporters were not permitted access to the court premises.
