Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, is likely to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives for Agege Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, dropping his earlier ambition to become governor. According to sources within the APC, the plan changed after President Bola Tinubu, in consultation with party leaders, chose Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the preferred governorship candidate. Obasa had also considered running for Lagos West Senatorial seat but faced resistance. He has since begun consultations and grassroots mobilisation in Agege.
