The Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal is scheduled to issue its verdict on Monday regarding the petitions filed by the Labour Party's gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour,and the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate, Olajide Adediran (Jandor).
The panel, led by Justice Arum Ashom, conveyed this announcement to the concerned parties on Saturday. Both Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor are disputing the results of the March 18 governorship elections in Lagos State, which saw the return of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat from the All Progressives Congress (APC), as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The petitions have been under consideration, and on August 12, legal representatives presented their final written arguments before the tribunal.
The forthcoming judgment carries significant implications for the political landscape in Lagos State, as it will determine whether the election results will stand or if legal challenges will lead to any changes in leadership.
