Members of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) have enforced the shutdown of Tin-can Island Port in Apapa, Lagos, aligning with the nationwide strike orchestrated by the organized labor following directives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

This collective action stems from concerns over workers' rights, the assault on NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, and the government's alleged non-compliance with agreements, including the national minimum wage.

MWUN's executive members directed the port closure, impacting freight forwarders and raising concerns about potential consequences for the public, as accumulated demurrage may be transferred to consumers. The strike adds pressure to ongoing nationwide labor unrest. 🚢
