In a devastating midnight incident, the popular Ladipo Plank Market in Amukoko, Lagos State, was engulfed in a fierce blaze, resulting in the destruction of valuable goods and property worth millions of naira. Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), confirmed that, fortunately, there were no reported casualties in the tragic incident.
The cause of the fire, which began around 12:30 am in the primary market, remains undetermined. Responding to distress calls, LASEMA, along with the Lagos State and Federal fire services, rushed to the scene in a bid to quell the relentless flames. As of 6 am, the firefighting efforts were still ongoing, while rescue operations continued.
