Pastor Enoch Adeboye of RCCG has banned male pastors with braids and female pastors with heavy makeup from the altar, citing the need for modesty and adherence to traditional values. The announcement sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting the move and others criticizing it as outdated and irrelevant.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recently addressed a controversial issue regarding the appearance of male and female pastors on the church altar. Speaking at the church’s annual convention, Adeboye declared that male pastors with braided hair and female pastors with heavy makeup would no longer be allowed on the altar. He associated male braiding with traditional Sango priests and emphasized that such trends would not be tolerated within the church.

Adeboye’s statements extended to female pastors, particularly those who wear false eyelashes, and nails, or expose their bodies. He emphasized the importance of modesty, arguing that such practices reflect insecurity and a lack of appreciation for God's creation. He asserted that women who expose their bodies may do so out of a belief that they are unattractive, urging his female followers to embrace their natural beauty.

The announcement sparked mixed reactions on social media. Some users supported Adeboye’s stance, agreeing with his call for modesty and adherence to traditional values. Others criticized his views as outdated, arguing that personal appearance should not determine one's ability to serve in the church. Some expressed frustration, labeling the message as irrelevant to modern Christianity and accusing Adeboye of imposing double standards on different continents.

Despite the backlash, Adeboye stood firm, advising those who disagreed with his views to seek another place of worship. The discussion continues to generate widespread debate among the RCCG congregation and beyond.
