The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, addressed Batch A Stream 1 corps members during their cultural carnival at the Anambra State orientation camp.
Urging them to embrace their state of deployment and contribute to its development, he cautioned against seeking redeployment.
Emphasizing the importance of security, Ahmed urged corps members to respect the host community's culture, remain peaceful, and prioritize their security.
He acknowledged that many might choose to stay in their deployment states after service.
The DG underscored the significance of skill acquisition and entrepreneurial development, encouraging corps members to leverage the program to become self-reliant, job creators, and contributors to national development.
Ahmed highlighted the government's commitment to supporting and empowering youth, providing opportunities for them to stand on their own. Referring to the success stories of past corps members who maximized such opportunities, he stressed the independence achieved through skill acquisition.
The NYSC boss, conferred with a chieftaincy title during the visit, urged corps members to respect host communities' cultures. He assured ongoing collaboration with states to improve camp facilities and accommodate the increasing number of corps members graduating annually.
