The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) responded to recent social media claims suggesting widespread under-dosing of paracetamol tablets in Nigeria.
In a press release, NAFDAC emphasized its commitment to public health and safety, asserting that their comprehensive testing in the WHO Prequalified Laboratory disproved the allegations. Testing paracetamol tablets from thirteen local manufacturers, NAFDAC reported a 100% pass rate, contradicting the social media claims.
The agency scrutinized the methodology used in the publication, revealing discrepancies and lack of scientific rigor. NAFDAC condemns the false information and highlights the importance of evidence-based discourse for public welfare.
The article responsible for the misinformation has been retracted, reinforcing NAFDAC's dedication to maintaining the quality of pharmaceutical products in Nigeria.
