Cubana Chief Priest, the popular nightlife promoter and social media celebrity, has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of naira abuse filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges stem from alleged incidents where Cubana, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, is accused of spraying and tampering with the Nigerian currency at social events, contravening the Central Bank Act of 2007.
The three-count charge was filed against him by EFCC operatives and is currently being heard at the Federal High Court in Lagos. The charges detail specific instances where Cubana is alleged to have tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 during social events in February 2024, as well as in 2020 and January 2024, all in Lagos.
During the court proceedings, Cubana Chief Priest pleaded not guilty to all charges brought against him. The case is ongoing, and further updates are expected to follow as the trial progresses.
