The Federal Government has appealed to members of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) to reconsider their decision to strike following the recent electricity tariff hike.

Despite the union's insistence on withdrawing services if the government does not reverse the tariff hike for Band A customers, the National President of NUEE, Adebiyi Adeyeye, emphasized the impracticality of providing 20 hours of electricity with the current infrastructure.

Adeyeye highlighted the potential risks and challenges faced by workers in collecting tariffs from customers experiencing insufficient power supply. Additionally, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, urged the union not to proceed with the strike, emphasizing that the government's actions aim to improve power supply and stimulate economic growth.
