In response to escalating power supply issues, the Federal Government has taken decisive action by inviting the heads of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to address the persistent electricity challenges in their respective service areas.
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has also summoned Sule Abdulazeez, the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), for the same reason.
Despite increased pressure on Generating Companies (GenCos) to enhance output, the power situation has deteriorated, with some DisCos reportedly neglecting power supply and transmission lines damaged by vandals.
Threats of license revocation loom for non-performing DisCos, and repair work on damaged transmission lines is underway to alleviate the power crisis.
The government emphasizes that despite gas constraints, power generation has exceeded 4000MW in recent days.
