Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made significant strides in combating drug trafficking, intercepting various illicit substances bound for Europe, the United Arab Emirates, and Asia. In a statement, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi revealed that methamphetamine and opioids were cleverly concealed in items such as jeans trousers, dolls, buttons, local soap, and tins of Milo beverage.
The operations, conducted by the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) at courier houses in Lagos, resulted in the seizure of tramadol, cannabis sativa, and methamphetamine. Notably, a drug kingpin, Okechukwu Ogala, was apprehended in Lagos, disrupting his operations of recruiting and exploiting young citizens for meth export to Asian countries.
Other successful operations included the recovery of substantial amounts of cannabis in different locations across Lagos, signaling a robust crackdown on drug trafficking within the region. The NDLEA remains committed to dismantling drug networks and safeguarding against the global flow of illicit substances.
