Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni has passed away after an eight-year battle with breast cancer.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the sad news on Saturday, expressing condolences and sharing their thoughts on social media.
In their statement, the NFF wrote, "We are sad to hear of the passing of former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni after an eight-year battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. May her gentle soul rest in peace."
Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni initially faced a breast cancer diagnosis in April 2017 and received clearance a year later following treatment and a mastectomy.
Unfortunately, she experienced a recurrence of the disease in January 2019, leading to another challenging period marked by 10 chemotherapy sessions.
Her passing is a somber moment for the football community, and the NFF's message reflects the collective sorrow and condolences extended to Bidemi Aluko-Olaseni's family. May she rest in peace.
