Nigerian Air Force fighter aircraft have conducted airstrikes on two hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Anambra and Imo States. The strikes, carried out on Tuesday, aimed to disrupt the activities of the separatist groups and prevent them from carrying out destructive acts and attacks.
The airstrikes targeted the Mother Valley Orsumughu hideout in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State and the Aku Ihube hideout in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. Both operations were successful, with reports of fleeing terrorists and visible damage to the locations.
The decision to conduct the airstrikes was based on credible intelligence suggesting that IPOB/ESN terrorists were planning to disrupt civic activities in Anambra State and other states in Southeast Nigeria. The operations were coordinated with ground troops and other security agencies.
The Nigerian Air Force and security agencies are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians, regardless of their location. The support of the Nigerian public is crucial in defeating criminal elements that aim to sow fear and division in the country. The government's efforts to maintain peace and security will continue unabated.
