In a chilling development, a yet-to-be-identified Nigerian man faces arrest in the United Kingdom after just one month, accused of sending explicit texts and photos to a 14-year-old girl. A viral video obtained by PUNCH METRO captures the man's detainment and confession to engaging in an illicit relationship with the minor.

During the interrogation, he admitted to conversing with a girl he believed was 13, discussing friendship. However, the interrogator corrected him, revealing the minor was 14, and queried him about sending explicit images. He confessed, pleading for leniency.

This case evokes memories of a similar incident in June 2023 when Nigerian Cyril Kenneth, studying for his master's degree, was arrested in Belfast for dating minors. Evidence included unsolicited indecent pictures, requests for addresses, and disturbing messages.

In the UK, sending an indecent image of a child carries a maximum 10-year custodial sentence. Sexual communication with a child under Section 67 of the Serious Crime Act 2015 warrants a maximum two-year custodial sentence. Underage rape carries a potential life sentence, while consensual sex with a 13-15-year-old may result in up to two years in prison. For victims under 13, a conviction may lead to life imprisonment.
