In a dire revelation, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, disclosed that corpses in Nigerian Army mortuaries are decomposing due to a prolonged power outage caused by a N42 billion debt crisis.
Lagbaja, during a visit to the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, highlighted the urgent need for intervention.
The debt, part of a broader issue affecting 83 MDAs, including Aso Rock, prompted the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company to issue disconnection warnings. Lagbaja emphasized the impossibility for the Army to clear the entire debt and sought support akin to the 2005 liquidation.
The Minister expressed readiness to engage with DisCos for a viable solution, citing broader challenges in the power sector.
