The generosity reflects a strong community response to the financial demands of raising four newborns.
Nigerians have generously raised over N8 million for the family of Sodiq Olayode, who recently welcomed a set of quadruplets. The remarkable fundraising effort began when James, a colleague of Olayode, shared the family's story on social media.
On Tuesday, James tweeted about Olayode’s situation, highlighting the staggering number of diapers the family used—105 in just six days. His tweet went viral, drawing attention to the financial burden of raising quadruplets.
James later received permission from the family to share their bank details and photos, which led to an outpouring of support. By Wednesday morning, donations had already reached N1,598,750. This amount quickly grew, and by 10:03 a.m., it had increased to N2,811,277. As of 11:03 a.m., the total had surpassed N4.2 million, and by the end of the day, donations had exceeded N8 million.
The Lagos State Government, recognizing the family's situation, has pledged support, including enrollment in the Ilera Eko health scheme for ongoing medical care. The Olayodes, who already had a child before the quadruplets, are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support from Nigerians.
