Chess master Tunde Onakoya, participating in a marathon in New York's Times Square organized by the non-profit organization Gift of Chess, has demonstrated remarkable resilience despite battling intense vomiting and stomach pain.
Onakoya aims to play for 58 consecutive hours without a single defeat, surpassing the current Guinness World Record of 56 hours, 9 minutes, and 37 seconds set by Norwegian players in 2018.
Despite his physical challenges, Onakoya remains determined, stating, "I will play on for the dreams of millions of children." The Nigerian chess prodigy has garnered support from both local and international communities, with public figures like Davido, Adekunle Gold, and Nigeria's Consul-General in New York City, Ambassador Peter Egopija, rallying behind him.
The marathon, which commenced on April 17 and is scheduled to conclude on April 19, has captivated audiences and showcased Onakoya's unwavering commitment to his cause.
