Comedian Gbenga Adeyinka supports President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a financial wizard capable of solving Nigeria's economic issues. Adeyinka urges Nigerians to give Tinubu two more years, arguing that Peter Obi would face similar challenges under the current system, limiting his potential to make meaningful changes.
Veteran comedian Gbenga Adeyinka has sparked reactions after praising President Bola Tinubu as a "financial wizard" and urging Nigerians to give him two more years to turn the country around. Speaking on a podcast, Adeyinka emphasized that Tinubu’s experience and leadership are crucial for Nigeria’s economic recovery. He also argued that if opposition candidate Peter Obi had won the presidency, he would struggle to implement any significant changes under Nigeria’s current system.
Adeyinka, a vocal supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighted Tinubu’s track record as Lagos State governor, calling him the best person to address Nigeria’s economic woes. He pointed out policies like subsidy removal and local government autonomy as positive steps but criticized the government for not tightening its spending.
Many Nigerians reacted to social media, with some accusing Adeyinka of tribal bias. Critics argued that his support for Tinubu is misplaced, particularly given the country's current economic hardships. One commenter expressed frustration, saying, “Tinubu is no financial wizard; he's a capitalist with no regard for the suffering masses.”
Others pointed out that Tinubu’s past successes cannot be replicated nationally. “If Tinubu was a financial genius, why hasn't he transformed the other states in the Southwest?” another commenter asked.
Despite the mixed reactions, Adeyinka remains adamant that Tinubu needs more time to demonstrate his leadership and fix Nigeria’s problems.
