Nigeria's Ademola Lookman emerged as the hero in the AFCON quarter-final clash against Angola, scoring the decisive goal in the first half to secure a 1-0 victory for the Super Eagles in Abidjan.

The match, which marked the first-ever AFCON encounter between the two nations, showcased Nigeria's dominance, with Lookman's goal proving to be the difference between the highest and lowest-ranked teams left in Ivory Coast.

The winger's goal, assisted by Moses Simon, highlighted Nigeria's prowess in converting their chances, solidifying their position in the semi-finals. With Lookman's goal marking his third in the competition, he joins the ranks of Nigerian legends such as Austin Okocha, Rashidi Yekini, and Odion Ighalo.

Despite Angola's attempts to equalize in the second half, Nigeria's resilient defense, coupled with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's crucial saves, ensured a deserved victory for the Super Eagles.

This win marks Nigeria's fourth consecutive victory in the tournament without conceding a goal, setting an AFCON record for the team. Looking ahead, Nigeria will face the winner of the quarter-final tie between Cape Verde and South Africa on February 7, as they aim to continue their impressive run in the competition.
