The widow of the murdered Olukoro of Koro Kingdom in Kwara State, late Oba Olusegun Aremu-Cole, along with another individual, has been successfully rescued from their abductors.
According to a press statement issued by the Kwara State Police Command's spokesperson, Ejire Adeyemi Adetoun, the victims were freed in a joint operation involving the Department of State Services (DSS), the military, police, and local hunters.
The rescue took place in a thick forest between Ekiti and Kwara states on Monday. The spokesperson confirmed that the rescued victims are in good health and have been reunited with their families. Additionally, 13 suspects linked to the case have been apprehended and are currently in custody.
The coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies played a crucial role in the success of the operation, providing a ray of hope in the ongoing investigation into the assassination of the late monarch on February 1, 2024.
