Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has scheduled a date to respond to the Nigeria Police Force's invitation. Ajaero confirmed he would appear on Wednesday, August 29, 2024.
This announcement was made through a letter from his legal team, Falana, and Falana Chambers, addressed to the Inspector General of Police.
The police have summoned Ajaero in connection with serious allegations, including criminal conspiracy, financing of terrorism, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime. In the letter, Ajaero also requested details regarding the nature of these allegations to prepare adequately for the interrogation.
The letter, signed by Samuel Ogala, stated, “Ajaero is ready for the interview on August 29, 2024.” It further emphasized his constitutional right to understand the specific charges against him under Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As he awaits a response from the police, Ajaero has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
