The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced a recruitment drive for various positions. Despite a surge in applications causing portal slowdowns, the deadline remains August 20, 2024. This is NNPC's first recruitment since its transition to a limited company in 2022.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) announced on Friday a recruitment drive for multiple positions across various departments. In a statement posted on its X handle, the company encouraged passionate individuals to apply through their careers page. Olufemi Soneye, NNPC's chief corporate communications officer, confirmed the recruitment and reassured applicants of a transparent and merit-based process. Due to a high volume of applications, the NNPC career portal experienced slow load times, but efforts are underway to resolve the issue. The application deadline remains 20 August 2024.
This recruitment marks the first since NNPC transitioned to a limited company. In July 2022, the company officially became the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, shifting from a state-run entity to a commercial oil company, regulated by the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA). The transition was part of the new Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) signed into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari. The legal transition took effect on July 1, 2022, with NNPC completing its incorporation in September 2021. The company now operates independently of the government, although government bodies remain shareholders and it is audited annually.
The NNPC's transformation aims to enhance efficiency and profitability, aligning with global industry standards. The recruitment initiative is a significant step in this new direction, seeking talented individuals to contribute to the company's growth and success.
