Detectives at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Lagos, have successfully recovered N50 million withdrawn from the bank account of ailing Nollywood actor Mr. Ibu.
The arrest of Ibu's son, Onyebuchi Okafor, and his lover, Jasmine Okekeagwu, follows a petition alleging conspiracy and stealing from Diamond Waves Law on behalf of Ibu's wife, Stella Maris Okafor. Investigation revealed that, in an attempt to fund Mr. Ibu's medical bills, his sons and Okekeagwu manipulated Mrs. Stella Maris, took control of Ibu's phone, and hacked into his banking details, transferring a total of N55 million before their arrest.
The stolen N50 million has been recovered, and the suspects face charges in court, with evidence pointing to a sham marriage and plans to flee the country. The casefile has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
