The Concerned Northern Lawyers Forum has strongly criticized the recent military accidental bombing in Tudun Biri village, Kaduna, and is set to take legal action against the Federal Government.
The group, demanding fair compensation for the victims, rejected the Nigerian Army's claim of a mistake, asserting that the operation was deliberately planned against innocent civilians.
During a press conference in Kaduna, spokesman Nafi’u Abubakar urged an immediate independent investigation into the incident and called on the Nigerian Army to reassess its rules of engagement to prevent future tragedies.
The airstrike on December 3, 2023, resulted in over 85 confirmed deaths and numerous injuries. While the army apologized, rights groups condemned the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability. President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sani have initiated a probe into the matter.
The legal proceedings raise questions about military accountability and the protection of civilian lives during operations.
