In an unexpected twist, Shem Obafiaye, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer whose 'Oga At The Top' remark became a cultural phenomenon, has received a promotion to the rank of deputy commandant-general.
Obafiaye's memorable moment occurred in 2013 during a Channels Television interview when he humorously redirected inquiries about the NSCDC's website to his superior.
The phrase 'Oga At The Top' quickly went viral, turning into memes, danceable tunes, and even adorning T-shirts.
After a decade, Obafiaye, alongside two colleagues, Fasiu Adeyinka and Raji, was decorated by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The move comes as part of the federal government's broader approval for the promotion of over 32,000 personnel in the Ministry of Interior. Obafiaye's promotion adds a new chapter to the legacy of the man behind the famous catchphrase
