Nyesom Wike explains his role in removing Uche Secondus as PDP chairman over a plot to replace Governor Fubara with his cousin. Wike defends his contributions to Rivers State and clarifies his ministerial duties, highlighting his efforts in securing political appointments for Rivers under President Tinubu’s administration.

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has explained his role in the removal of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at a Thanksgiving event in Ahoada East, Wike revealed that Secondus had planned to replace Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara with his cousin, Tele Ikuru, which led to Wike’s intervention. He accused Secondus of undermining Fubara's governorship ambitions, which ultimately led to the fallout between them.

Wike also addressed remarks made by Celestine Omehia, a PDP chieftain, who criticized his contributions to Rivers State. Wike dismissed Omehia's claims, labeling him an "imbecile" for not understanding his ministerial responsibilities. He defended his record, citing his past achievements as Education Minister, including contributions to local universities and the renovation of key educational institutions.

Though as FCT Minister he cannot directly fund infrastructure in Rivers, Wike emphasized his efforts in securing political appointments for his state, claiming that no other governor had done more in this regard under President Bola Tinubu's administration. He concluded by asserting his commitment to helping Rivers people despite the criticism and challenges posed by political rivals.
