The NYSC has introduced a redeployment option for married female corps members assigned to states away from their husbands. The announcement encourages those affected to report to their orientation camps with relevant documents during registration for state changes, promoting family unity during their service year.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced a new redeployment option for married female prospective corps members assigned to states where their husbands do not reside. This update was shared via social media on Monday, urging affected individuals to visit their respective orientation camps for a change in deployment.
The NYSC stated, “All married female prospective corps members (PCMs) who are deployed to states where their husbands are not domiciled should report to the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp for their State of Deployment to be changed.” During the registration period, these corps members must provide relevant documents, such as marriage certificates, as evidence.
This initiative highlights the NYSC's commitment to accommodating the personal circumstances of married participants, allowing them to serve closer to their families during their service year. Established on May 22, 1973, the NYSC aims to foster national unity and involve graduates in the development of Nigeria. To participate, graduates must be under 30 years of age at the time of graduation; those above this age receive a Certificate of Exemption. Completing the service year earns corps members a Certificate of Satisfactory Participation, acknowledging their contributions to nation-building.
Through this policy change, the NYSC seeks to enhance the experience for married female corps members and support family unity during their service.
