Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, expressed concern over President Tinubu's prolonged absence from Nigeria amid pressing economic challenges. With the president missing his promised return date after a two-week vacation, Obi emphasizes the urgent need for leadership to address the hardships facing the nation.
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the last election, has voiced his concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu's continued absence from Nigeria amid pressing economic challenges. Tinubu initially departed the country on October 2 for a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom, a part of his annual leave.
Recent reports indicated that the president extended his trip, traveling from the UK to Paris, France, for what was described as an “important engagement.” As the two-week mark passes, Obi has publicly questioned the president's whereabouts, stating, “The President had told us he would only be gone for 14 days. The 14 days have passed now, and we are waiting to see him in the country.”
Obi emphasized the urgency of Tinubu's return, especially given the mounting issues facing the nation. He remarked, “One would have expected him to return earlier than expected, considering the volume of work that needs to be done in a troubled nation like ours.” He pointed to the significant hardship caused by policies from the current administration, arguing that the country requires immediate leadership to navigate through these turbulent times.
