President Bola Tinubu has urged dissatisfied candidates in the Ondo governorship election to seek redress in court while commending Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s victory and the peaceful conduct of the election. Tinubu praised INEC’s efficiency and security forces’ professionalism, calling the election a test of Nigeria’s democratic and electoral integrity.

President Bola Tinubu has called on candidates dissatisfied with the Ondo State governorship election results to seek redress through the judicial system. Tinubu congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory and commended the peaceful conduct of the election.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised the maturity shown by candidates from 17 political parties during the campaigns and election process. He attributed the election's success to the civility displayed in Ondo and urged political actors to maintain decorum in post-election activities.

The president expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the election as a test of its capabilities. He commended INEC’s preparation, efficient logistics, and the swift uploading of over 98% of results on the same day.

Tinubu also acknowledged the efforts of the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Youth Service Corps, and the military to ensure a peaceful environment throughout the election.

While Tinubu emphasized the importance of judicial review for addressing electoral grievances, the statement has sparked debates on social media. Many Nigerians question the independence of the judiciary and the fairness of the system under the current administration. Critics have accused Tinubu of controlling key institutions, fueling skepticism about the prospects of fair outcomes for election disputes.
