The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially suspended former governor Rauf Aregbesola amid allegations of anti-party conduct. This suspension, which is effective immediately, is pending the results of a disciplinary investigation initiated by the party's leadership.

The move came in response to a request from the Ilesa East Local Government APC Executive Committee, which raised concerns about Aregbesola’s actions that are believed to undermine the party's integrity. Among the accusations are claims of fostering factionalism within the party, specifically through the creation of a splinter group called the Omoluabi Caucus. Aregbesola is also alleged to have collaborated with opposition parties, publicly criticized key party leaders—including President Bola Tinubu and former Osun governor Gboyega Oyetola—and abstained from party activities since the 2019 elections.

On October 22, the Osun APC Executive Committee issued a resolution informing the national leadership of their decision to suspend Aregbesola and to establish a disciplinary committee to probe the allegations against him. The committee expressed its commitment to maintaining discipline within the party and warned that any member found guilty of actions detrimental to the party's unity would face consequences.

Aregbesola has been formally notified of the allegations and given a chance to defend himself.
