Nigerian table tennis star Aruna Quadri has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking his fourth Olympic appearance. Ranked 17th globally, Quadri secured his spot through ITTF world rankings and continental quotas. He joins fellow Nigerian representatives Olajide Omotayo, Edem Offiong, and Fatimo Bello in the event.
Aruna Quadri has officially qualified to represent Nigeria in table tennis at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This significant achievement was announced by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) on Friday. Quadri, aged 35 and ranked 17th globally, secured his spot through his world ranking and the allocation of continental quotas.
Joining him are seven other athletes, including Algeria’s Lynda Loghraibi. In a statement, the ITTF highlighted the milestone, noting the proximity of the Games. “With under 50 days to go, this week’s world ranking update has seen eight athletes secure their participation based on Continental quotas,” the statement read.
Quadri’s qualification places him alongside other notable players such as Nicolas Burgos from Chile, Kirill Gerassimenko from Kazakhstan, and Spain’s Alvaro Robles, who also qualified in Mixed Doubles. These athletes represent their respective continents in the Men’s Singles draw, showcasing the global nature of the competition.
This will be Quadri’s fourth Olympic appearance, having previously represented Nigeria in London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2021. He will be competing alongside fellow Nigerian table tennis players Olajide Omotayo, Edem Offiong, and Fatimo Bello.
