Enekwechi, who placed sixth in the men's shot put final, expressed his disappointment on Instagram, stating that the clothes provided for the ceremony did not fit him. He wrote, "No closing ceremony for me. Clothes were not provided in my size. I'm not THAT big."
The closing ceremony, held at the Stade de France, was a grand affair featuring performances by Phoenix, Air, Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg. French swimmer Léon Marchand, who won four individual gold medals, carried the Olympic flame into the arena before it was extinguished, marking the end of the Games. Tom Cruise also made a notable appearance, collecting the Olympic flag and parachuting from a helicopter.
Despite the high-profile event, Enekwechi's absence was a notable disappointment for Nigeria. The country, which sent a record number of 33 athletes to Paris, failed to secure a medal for the first time since London 2012.
