In a press briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagun, announced the party's intention to sanction the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and others for alleged anti-party activities.
Damagun emphasized that no member, including Mr. Wike, is above the party's leadership, asserting the party's authority to take appropriate action at the right time.
While acknowledging ongoing litigation within the party, Damagun stated that a panel has been constituted to investigate those involved in anti-party activities, ensuring a comprehensive review of events leading up to the 2023 elections.
Wike, who led a group of five PDP governors against the party's presidential candidate in the February election, recently engaged in a peace meeting with his successor and other stakeholders convened by Bola Tinubu.
The unfolding developments showcase the internal challenges within the PDP, raising questions about the party's unity and future direction
