About 60 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives have threatened to resign from the party, citing ongoing crises in Rivers State and 10 other chapters. Led by Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member from Imo State, and five others, they voiced their concerns at a press conference in Abuja.
The lawmakers also called for the removal of the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, before the rescheduled National Executive Council (NEC) meeting. They emphasized that they were representing a significant faction within the PDP's House membership.
According to Mr. Ugochinyere, allowing APC-affiliated officials to control the party in states like Rivers undermines the PDP's integrity and plays into a larger scheme.
