Peter Obi commended the Nigerian Police for rescuing Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, wife of a retired AIG, highlighting their professionalism. He urged the same urgency for ordinary Nigerians facing security issues, emphasizing that proper leadership and motivation can unlock the full potential of Nigeria's security agencies to ensure public safety.

Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has applauded the Nigerian Police for their swift rescue of Mrs. Folashade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Hakeem Odumosu, who was abducted in Ogun State. Obi also urged the police to extend the same level of urgency to cases involving ordinary Nigerians.

Mrs. Odumosu was abducted by four masked gunmen outside her home in Arepo on January 16, 2025. The police successfully rescued her a week later, recovering N10 million in ransom money and ammunition while neutralizing two of the kidnappers.

In a statement shared on his social media, Obi commended the professionalism and precision demonstrated during the operation, which ensured Mrs. Odumosu's safe release. He praised the police’s ability to act decisively when properly motivated and supported.

“This successful rescue shows the capacity of our security agencies when leadership and resources align,” Obi remarked.

However, he expressed concern over the plight of ordinary Nigerians whose security challenges often go unreported or neglected. He urged the police to prioritize all Nigerians, stressing that many innocent citizens remain victims of abduction with little or no efforts to secure their freedom.

Obi further emphasized that the impressive feat underscores the potential within Nigeria’s security framework, reiterating his belief that with proper management, a safer and more secure Nigeria is achievable.
