Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Atiku Abubakar, has ignited controversy with a scathing post targeting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party. Bwala's post, shared on Twitter, included a video purportedly depicting Obi vehemently pledging allegiance to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and likening him to the biblical figure of Judas Iscariot, infamous for betraying Jesus Christ.
In the video, Obi can be heard making impassioned vows never to abandon APGA, even invoking a dire consequence upon his family should he break his pledge. Bwala's accompanying caption did not mince words, accusing Obi of political promiscuity, alleging that he had moved from APGA to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), then to the Labour Party, and now purportedly planning another move to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Bwala's condemnation did not stop there; he drew parallels between Obi's alleged betrayals and historical figures such as Odimegwu Ojukwu and his former boss, Atiku Abubakar.
The post immediately triggered a firestorm of reactions on social media, with supporters and detractors alike weighing in on the controversy. Some lauded Bwala for his boldness in exposing what they perceived as political hypocrisy, while others criticized him for what they deemed as a smear campaign against Obi.
For his part, Peter Obi has not issued a direct response to Bwala's allegations. However, political analysts anticipate that this latest episode will only add fuel to the already intense debate surrounding Obi's political career and the intricacies of Nigerian politics.
