In a shocking escalation of violence, the death toll from recent attacks on communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State has surged to a devastating 76. The assailants targeted Mushu village in Bokkos LGA, claiming 16 lives on Sunday.
The spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, Captain Oya James, revealed that the attack occurred Saturday night while residents were asleep. Security personnel were swiftly deployed to maintain order, and despite initial unrest, the situation is now under control. Monday Kasa, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos LGA, confirmed the grim toll, emphasizing that the attacks spanned from Saturday into Sunday.
The assailants not only took lives but also burned houses and looted farm produce. As security agents, vigilantes, and hunters comb the forest for missing persons, the casualty figure continues to rise.
