In a landmark decision led by Justice Okon Abang, the Appeal Court unanimously ousted 11 lawmakers from the Plateau Assembly, dealing a blow to the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The court asserted that these lawmakers had secured wasted votes in the March 2023 general election due to their party's structural deficiencies, declaring a violation of section 177 of the 1999 constitution.

In a surprising turn, the court declared all second runners-up in the March 18 elections as winners, reshaping the political dynamics in Plateau State. The sacked lawmakers, including notable figures like Hon. Timothy Dantong and Hon. Salome Waklek, have been replaced by the new winners.

This ruling propels the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the leading position in the state's parliament, signifying a significant shift in political power.
