In a recent press conference held in Abuja, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
They expressed concerns that Tinubu would struggle to secure even 2 percent of the votes in the FCT if he failed to address the actions of Minister Nyesom Wike, whom Tinubu appointed to the FCT ministerial position.
The APC leaders accused Wike of neglecting the party's interests and undermining its political structure in the territory, citing lopsided appointments and a lack of consultation with APC leadership.
They urged President Tinubu to intervene and rein in Minister Wike to prevent further damage to the party's electoral prospects in the FCT. Additionally, they highlighted the contradiction in Wike's statements about protecting his political structure in Rivers State while allegedly dismantling Tinubu's political influence in the FCT.
The APC leaders emphasized the importance of empowering local party leaders and voters in the FCT to improve the party's electoral performance. They warned that failure to address these issues could result in significant losses for the APC in both the presidential and local elections.
